A new teacher joins the District Aboriginal Education Support Team!

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Kristi Haavisto will be joining our team as the Aboriginal Education Support Program teacher for Langdale, Gibsons, Roberts Creek, NDVR, Cedar Grove, Field Program, and some classes at Kinnikinnick.   Kristi will begin Thursday, March 10 and carry out the work until June 30, 2011 - while Ms. Lisa Pugh is on leave.

Kristi will follow the schedule already established by Lisa Pugh in consultation with schools.   Kristi brings a wonderful background of life experience to the position, and is a lauded graduate of the Native Teacher Education Program at UBC.   Among Kristi's many strengths is a background in Music, Math, English, and Aboriginal Education.

We look forward to the connections Kristi will make with students, families, the Aboriginal community, fellow teachers, and principals in the days to come.
