"SAFE HARBOUR' WORKSHOP
- PLEASE JOIN US ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 23 AT CAPILANO UNIVERSITY,
10 AM TO NOON
AND HELP TO CREATE A SAFER, MORE WELCOMING COMMUNITY
You are invited to a SAFE HARBOUR: RESPECT FOR ALL workshop. Safe Harbour is a program of the Affiliation of Multicultural Societies and Service Agencies of BC. The program creates opportunities for storefront businesses, institutions, agencies, and municipalities to celebrate our differences, helping to create safer, more welcoming communities that support diversity and reject discrimination.
Workshop participants will be invited to sign on to three key commitments: equitable treatment for all; an immediate safe place; prepared employees and worksites. You will receive a workbook that you can share with your colleagues and you will be able to designate your workplace as a Safe Harbour-certified location with a window decal and certificate.
For more detailed information on the Safe Harbour program visit http://www.amssa.org/programs/diversity/safe-harbour or view the attachments. The workshop will be facilitated by Terre Flower who, with her team, began the Safe Harbour program 12 years
ago at the Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society. There are now almost 100 Safe Harbour locations in BC.
When: Thursday, February 23, 10 am to noon
Where: Capilano University, 5627 Inlet Avenue, Sechelt
Who should participate: Staff, especially frontline staff, in organizations and businesses on the Sunshine Coast that deal with the public.
The workshop is free. Pre-registration required by Wednesday, February 15.
