A single online destination to learn about UBC’s Aboriginal academic programs, student services, research community and outreach initiatives.  The site uses video to help put a put a human face to the university and introduce prospective students to the team that exists to support and mentor Aboriginal students through admissions, graduation and beyond.

On the site, prospective students can find everything they need to know about
coming to UBC and can hear from Aboriginal students just like them who are thriving and taking advantage of opportunities that may not be available at all institutions. While attending a large research-intensive university can be intimidating for some students, UBC’s size allows for specialized Aboriginal student services, a large number of Aboriginal-focused programs and for students to work alongside top Aboriginal scholars

Aboriginal Small Business & Entrepreneur Development Programs
Are you interested in starting your own business? Fulfill your business dream by learning the principles of contemporary business while developing the tools to write your own business plan.

An initiative of Turtle Island Indigenous Education and Tsleil-Waututh Nation with Simon Fraser University, the Program is now in it's fourth year. 


You may be eligible for support through the Aboriginal Training for Employment Program (ATEP), the Ministry of Social Development's Skills Development Fund, your Band or Nation.

Native Education College (NEC)
The Native Education College is BC's largest private Aboriginal College.
Within available resources, NEC provides a culturally appropriate and supportive learning environment for Aboriginal learners. NEC offers a variety of programs and services to Aboriginal learners throughout the province who attend the Longhouse located in the Mount Pleasant area of Vancouver. NEC also works with Aboriginal organizations to deliver programs in other locations throughout British Columbia.

Justice Institute of BC - Centre for Aboriginal Programs and Services

The Centre for Aboriginal Programs and Services provides a positive atmosphere, personalized student advising, and relevant curriculum materials.  The course content reflects Aboriginal worldviews, perspectives and theories.  The Centre employs Aboriginal faculty.

Northwest Community College (NWCC)
NWCC serves 28 of the 197 First Nations bands in B.C., as well as the northwest region of the Metis Nation.  With over 50 per cent of its students being of Aboriginal descent, the College also has the largest number of Aboriginal students of any BC college - a fact largely attributed to the progressive and open relationship between the College and local bands.   The College supports its Aboriginal students by creating a welcoming and respectful environment, and providing the programming and student services relevant to their educational needs.

The Vancouver Aboriginal Skills and Employment Partnership (VanAsep)
VanAsep is a non-profit society incorporated on March 15, 2005. VanAsep is a partnership project to proliferate Aboriginal employment. The society proudly collaborates with First Nation communities, Metis Provincial Council along with industry and training institutions.

The First Nations Language Program (FNLG), at the University of British Columbia, offers courses in various First Nations languages, develops educational materials, and conducts research on BC's endangered languages, in collaboration with First Nations communities and cultural institutions.

Thompson Rivers University
TRU has one of the largest aboriginal student populations in B.C. post-secondary institutions. TRU is pleased to offer services in support of all aboriginal students: Status, Non-status, Metis and Inuit. These services are designed to enhance students post-secondary experience at TRU culturally, socially and academically. 
Some of the services available are the support of the Coordinator for Aboriginal Students, the Aboriginal Cultural Centre and the First Nations Student Association.
