The First Nations of the Sunshine Coast

The territories of the shíshálh (Sechelt) Nation and the Skwxwu7mesh Uxwumixw (Squamish Nation) encompass the "lower" Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.

To the Northwest is Jervis Inlet, a boundary with the
Tla'amin (Sliammon) Nation of the “upper” Sunshine Coast.

The land, the waters, and the people have an unbroken history that reaches into time immemorial.

                                 In our places of learning,
the Salish Peoples of the Sunshine Coast,
                    their unceded lands, their communities,
                         their languages,
and their cultures
are acknowledged with gratitude and respect.

who live on the Sunshine Coast
